Let them sing it for you!

Portuguese / English students had to write songs! They worked in pairs and the songs should include one of the grammar / vocabulary topics we had been studying. After writing the songs they went to the website http://www.sr.se/p1/Src/sing/ and typed the song there. In class we listened to the songs, checked if there were mistakes and voted to choose the best song.

Here they are (without the corrections - I'm still waiting for the new links!):

Ehnaeull and Lucas - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=XDZWK6L2

Lindsay, Joelza and Giulia - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=QMBM4DLC

Alexandre and Bruno - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=O2IUEZQL

Aline and Karen - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=23B7KDIY

Guilherme and Andrius - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=NWO9HVRC

Jean and Carlos - http://www.sr.se/P1/src/sing/index.htm?key=FGUQN9IV

The results will be given as soon as you send me the songs corrected! Remember the winners will get some delicious chocolate!!!

Don't forget to write a comment about your classmates' songs.

Thanks to Nik Peachey for the link!

2009 ACTIVITIES

We have been very busy! Here are the projects we have this year:
Portuguese / English students (CL61A-S91) - two projects. One is with Western Illinois University, Macomb, Illinois, United States (http://www.wiu.edu/). They have been exchanging e-mail messages with elementary education majors. Some students have written a lot and learned a lot. Future teachers from the US communicating with future teachers from Brazil. In common the desire to share experiences, to learn about the educational systems of each country, to share cultures. A purposeful opportunity for Brazilian students to practice their English.
The second project is with a group of students from a a World Cultural geography class from a high school in Red Wing, Minnesota, USA. Students use Epals to communicate. Younger students, shorter messages, different realities. A nice experience too.
Técnico Integrado students (CL07A-T61) - one project. This project is with students from a Chicago public school. They are students from an art class. The objective is to exchange collage posters to show how students live day by day at their school, to describe their environment and their personality and interests. When the posters are finished they'll be sent by snail mail! Pictures have been taken, students have prepared their texts, posters are almost ready!

I'm back!

First I want to apologize. I'm sorry I haven't updated our blog for so long. You know I was really busy, but, I should have done it anyway. Now let 's begin with the news from December.
On December 8, 2007, Marcelle's baby was born. His name is Valentin and he has already attended our English 8 classes! Below is his photo.

Then Christmas came a new year began and everybody was on vacation.

In February and March some students sent me some suggestions of sites that they like. Take a look and give me your opinion:

Sandra's suggestion (English 8): http://www.aprendendoingles.com.br/shtml/2007344.shtml It's a list that if you sign in you receive a story in English every day. It's good to improve your vocabulary.

Luis (English 8) also sent the following site: http://www.bbc.co.uk/ He also mentions http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/learningenglish and for children he suggests http://bbcle.bsysmail.com/go.asp?/.pages.resgistration/bBBE001

Other suggestions from Luis are http://www.uiowa.edu/~acadtech/phonetics/#

http://www.bbc.co.uk/drama/ and http://www.spotlightradio.net/script.php?id=1982

To test your knowledge you can check http://www.oup.com/elt/global/products/bgp/ebgp/

A suggestion from Misael (English 8) is http://www.languageguide.org/ It's to improve your vocabulary.

Ju's suggestion

Take a look at this blog that Ju has sent http://www.inglesonline.com.br/category/ingles-em-video. It has a lot of suggestions of sites, podcasts, videos, etc. It's very nice and you can check it and do an activity and talk about it next class, I mean, after the test. Don't forget you have tests this week!
